What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Purpose of data processing

We collect personal data for sending out the NIMA newsletter, to run and optimize the NIMA website. Our webserver for our website is hosted by Alfahosting GmbH, Ankerstraße 3b, D-06108 Halle (Saale), Germany. Every time you access our websites your browser automatically transfers specific information to our webserver. This includes information on your browser type, your operating system, your IP address, as well as the date and time of the page view that you visited. This data serves the purpose of system security, statistics and the technical and content administration of our website. Any data collected is directly anonymized. We only process personalized data (IP-address) if it is required for the secure running of the website. This data will neither be assigned to a specific person nor consolidated with other data sources. Your personal data (i.e. name, email address, IP address) will only be collected in case you deliberately and voluntarily submit such information, for example as part of the newsletter subscription, and will only be used for the pre-assigned purpose.

We use WordPress (WordPress.org) for creating and publishing our website.

Cookies

Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow it). It enables the site’s or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information.

For the newsletter we process you email address on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 (a) GDPR.

Your rights over your data

You have the right of access to your personal data. This means that you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us (Art. 15 GDPR). You have a right to rectification of your data, i.e. your data needs to be changed or is incomplete (Art. 16 GDPR), and a right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR). You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you (Art. 17 GDPR). This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. If we cannot delete personal data due to legal obligations, you can request a restriction of the data processing (Art. 18 GDPR). You can further object to our processing of personal data (Art. 21 GDPR).
You can withdraw previously granted permissions for the future (such as for sending the newsletter) at any time. You can exercise your rights by contacting us at info@nima-project.eu or with subject Personal Data or for the Newsletter with Unsubscribe.

Who we share your data with

We do not share your data with third parties for commercial use. Your data can only be used for the purpose of which you have indicated to be interested in.  Alfahosting GmbH, Halle (Saale), Germany is hosting our website. Alfahosting only collects anonymized data. Their privacy policy is available here.

How long we retain your data

Newsletter: We’ll retain your personal data (email address) for the purpose of sending you the project newsletter up to a year after the official project end. Prior to that, you can unsubscribe or request that we delete your information.
Website: For users that register on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. Furthermore, we save any comments and their metadata are retained, so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. We will retain this personal information for up to a year after the official project end, after which all information will be deleted.

Where we send your data

When visiting our website, information collected is saved on the server of Alfahosting in Germany. Only we have access to the information.
